There haven't been any studies done on melatonin in pregnancy, so stay away from it. Just because it's natural doesn't mean it's safe for pregnancy. Valerian root is natural, but dangerous during pregnancy. Try a cup of chamomile tea (plain chamomile with no other herbs in it) or some Benadryl. Both of those are pregnancy approved. The chamomile will also help you when you're feeling stressed. Drink that instead of alcohol.

Plenty of studies done on Melatonin. It is rather mild in its effect. Dr. don't discuss or favor herbal remedies because there is is outside the loop of the establised medical community and FDA. It's not regulated, rated or recognized in the medical community. They can't make money on it.

My husband takes it. I agree with your doc. if there's no studies done on it I would say don't risk it.

I've taken it before but I wouldn't risk it when I'm pregnant especially if the doctor said not to.

I work in a physician's office and he advises that alot for people but I had an aunt who took it and she said all she did was cry when she was on it. I guess I would try it and see how it works for you.

If you're pregnant, don't take it.

I have taken it (not pregnant) and it helped me a great deal with my insomnia and with jet lag.
