skipped 2 light blue pills in a row.. got my period a week early. it came back heavy the week it was due?

im on ortho tricylcen lo. been on it for about 2 years. my periods usually come the day of or day after my period is due.

i skipped the two blue pills in a row. which i think triggered starting my period early.. i've forgotten to take 1 or 2 pills a few months before and this never happened. anyways.. i had my period which was kind of heavy than what it normally is.. i spotted over the weekend. dark brown discharge. then 2 days after my regular period is due, i got cramps and it came back? it is really heavy. what is going on here?
