Where is the Idle Air Control Motor typically? Jeep Grand Cherokee '98 4.0. Is it an electronic compontent? or just mechanical? How big is it and can an intermediate DIY'er replace it?

IAC motors are normally on the air intake by the throttle butterfly. Try to clean the throttle body first. A bad EGR valve will also give you a bad idle if stuck open.

is behind the glove box, remove it and you will find a big housing, most in plastic, the bottom part of it has the blower motor , unscrew like 6 bolts and take out the plastic plug

that is the motor with the fan attach to it

and everyone can do it , is a very simple removal

its on the throttle body in the intake manifold
