Ive got a patch of rust about the size of my fist on the tailgate of my jeep. I want to have it professionally fixed and painted. Does anyone have any idea of roughly how much it may cost?

a body specialist can fix your problem, depending on the spot location , by removing the rust, treating the area with metal prep chemical & then spot painting or painting the whole tailgate for $100 - $ 500 . a lot will depend on how pickey you want to be .

rust cant be killed O_o
you can paint it but rust will come out again with the years again and again

you have toremove the bad area completely and use some bondo or a thin metal sheet , i recomend you remove the tailgate

so if you want your fix last many more years you have to replace the tailgait plus paint

300 for the paint labor + tailgate

the rust on the frame shouldnt affect the driving too much. you best bet is to have the car stripped to the frame and have the frame powder coated. this will cost a little bit of money but will remove the existing rust and protect the frame from rusting in the future. in the mean time try not to drive it too hard. hard or aggressive driving may cause some damage to a rusted frame but normal everyday driving shouldnt damage the frame. hope this helps

Drive it some where and get an estimate.
