I thought it was important to warn the other mommies out there of this potentially harmful chemical. that's all. I do not bottle feed (breast milk or formula)... I do express my milk when the baby naps and donate it it to the hospital's milk bank to give to premature and sick babies. Eventually, my baby will need a plastic sippy cup! Then what? Thank you for all your help!! !!!!

I do worry about my own body being poisoned, I mean , sort of... but mostly, I was just concerned of what I was inadvertently passing on to my baby thru my breast milk!

its in the plastic, a chemical that increses plastics flexibility also mimics a testostorone hormone. this is dangerous in children, more so than adults. you should be disturbed its in your childrens toys as well and its been banned in Europe for years as a matter of fact when an item contaning this chemical is found on European shelves it is then shiped to the good ole USA, where standards are lower! a man nomed Mark Shapiro just published a book called Exposed you may want to invest in it to see how else your being poisened!

Yes, BPA can potentially be dangerous to a baby. BPA is an industrial chemical that is used to make polycarbonate plastics. At low levels BPA may be an endocrine disrupter. Since it mimics a hormone there is no telling what the long term consequences of exposure could be.
However, some plastics are more susceptible to leaching BPA than others. If you look at the recycling number on your plastic containers, then you can tell which are "safer" than others. It is generally accepted that the recycling numbers 1,2,5, and 7 are considered to be safe. There are several bottles on the market that will meet this criteria (eg. Playtex drop-ins, Evenflo, Medela). Also, you can look into glass bottles, but these may be difficult to find.
Never heat food or milk/formula in plastics.
As for how this will effect you, it is currently believed that adults should be minimally affected. If you are a person that frequently uses the "unsafe" plastics though, then I might reconsider this practice.

If it rather is the comparable one i heard of, if the bottle/sippy cup has a variety 7 on the backside , then those are those being recalled. curiously it rather is no longer in basic terms toddler bottles, it is likewise water bottles to boot. So any bottled water which you drink, make useful there is no longer a 7 engraved on the backside of it. i think there's a maximum cancers inflicting agent interior the plastic that motives prostate maximum cancers (men) . a chum of my step dads were ingesting the comparable water for the previous twenty years and it quite is accessible interior the bottle it rather is being recalled, and recently has been clinically determined with prostate maximum cancers. no longer asserting it rather is by technique of the bottle, notwithstanding it quite is a twist of fate.

Well if mommy is expressing milk, then she would be most likely using a bottle to feed.

normally unless the plastic has been frozen over and over, your okay. plastic breaks down only when is over heated or frozen. so since you dont do either one to a baby's bottle you are okay. thats why now these days they recommend re heating food in glass or ceramic sealed items rather that plastic containers (in the microwave)

I know all abput it, my son is using glass bottles. They have taken many drops to the floor and (knock on wood) we have yet to have one break. When it comes time for a cup, I will buy the polycarbonate free cups.

I would suggest you quit reading so much. You sound like your making yourself paranoid. Everything we do in daily life is harmful in some way or another. Why worry about the little things...

Everything is potentially harmful these days. Instead of worrying about it, enjoy your baby, instead of being worried at every little thing. Use your common sense and you will be fine. Good luck.
