I would recommend lots of water (this helps to flush out your system), maybe some Orange Juice because it contains a lot of Vitamin C which helps your immune system. Take your prenatal vitamins and watch to make sure you don't spike a fever over 102. If you do call your doctor and they will give you antibiotics. Otherwise, try to get some rest, take a warm bath and drink lots of water (hot tea and orange juice). This will help your body recover faster. I would ask your doctor if they have something equivalent to Tylenol in the UK, I'm sure there is something!
Good luck to you,
Toni Lynne =)

oh boy...So sorry to hear you're having a tough time. At 12 I thought I knew it all, and I think most teenagers do. She probably won't fully realize what sort of responsiblity she has taken on until the baby is there..and that might even be weeks after the birth. I'm not a mom, So I'm not sure my advice is the best, but I would do your best to make sure she takes a reasonable amount of responsibility. I wouldn't let her push this child on to you. There is nothing wrong with being a caring helpful grandmother, but she is the mom, and she needs to take that role. Maybe you can get her an at home tutor, or does her school offer a teen mother's program? Good luck

Tylenol would be your safest bet if you were in the U.S. I don't know the exact brand equivalent of Tylenol there, but the main ingredient of Tylenol which makes it safe in your situation is Acetaminophen. That is the main ingredient of aspirin but not anything that causes other risk effects, thus you can go ahead search for a brand of cold medicine that has that ingredient and take the lowest dose. Good luck and feel better soon...

You can take regular tylenol for the pain, a regular dose. Cold medications cause complications for pregnancies and can cause serious birth defects.
Regular nasal saline solution squirted (not sprayed) down each nostril a fe times a day WILL get rid of it in a couple days. Just squirt in in until it hits your throat and then blow your nose real well, it flushes the virus out.
Cold medications only make colds last longer, they dont get rid of them, they surpress your bodies defenses and abilities to get them out of the body.
You can google it for yourself.

Tylenol is a brand name for acetaminophen. If you do take it, make sure you take no more than 4 grams in a 24 hour period, as it can cause liver damage. I believe in the UK, acetaminophen is also known as Paracetamol. Check with your pharmacist. In addition, to alleviate your symptoms, drink warm chicken soup and stay hydrated--lots of clear fluids to thin your lung secretions and expectorate mucus. You can also use plain saline nasal spray to alleviate congestion.
