Musharraf did not have anything to do with it, so it is especially scary to think the baying mob accusing him, not only did Al Q/Taliban murder her but they are able to deflect the anger of her supporters against Musharraf, they must be laughing their crazy bearded heads off in their cave hideouts.

I don't think Musharraf would have had her killed. The man may be ruthless, but he's not stupid. I think it was the Taliban. They tried to kill her as soon as she flew home from exile. Looks like they succeeded this time.
Edit#1: Hey Floyd, remember the US was the one that wanted Musharraf to lift martial law. He tried to do the right thing by keeping a lid on this, but WE wouldn't let him, and this is the price we pay for reigning him in!

Not a chance. Taliban, or some group of that ilk who are very anti democracy, very anti-women in government and saw Bhutto as friendly to the west. Even more so than Musharraf.

What is happening in Pakistan and Afghanistan now have their origin in the desire to push back the Soviet invaders from Afghanistan in the early 1980s.Talibans were trained in Pakistan. Alqaeda terrorists - Muslim extremists from several Arab, African, Asian countries - have been encouraged to join forces in the pushing back of soviets. Thus they were friends once. After the pushing back of Soviets the bickerings started between friends turned foes. An immediate provocation was Iraq invading Kuwait on pretext of stealing of their OIL by Kuwaitis. Then rest is recent History.
Pakistan has become a nursery for terrorists. They say one who plays by the sword has to die by it. Poor Benazir Bhutto might not have been a player.

If Musharraf wanted her dead, it would have happened a long time ago. This is a long time Taliban tactic. The last thing the Extremist want is a woman in power, especially a woman who was very friendly to the west.

In a way, yes, because he made a half-assed attempt to provide adequate security for her and did little to investigate previous attempts on her life. I don't understand why he lifted the state of emergency last week when it was still obvious that she was in danger.
This whole situation confirms my suspicion that Musharraf is talking the talk but not walking the walk when it comes to fighting terrorism. The fact that this country has nuclear weapons scares the **** out of me.

It's either Musharraf or AlQaeda/Taliban, although suicide bombers would seem to be an AlQaeda/Taliban tactic and not a Musharraf tactic, don't you think?

I doubt it. What would he gain? Right now, he's facing civil war.
I think it was religious fanatics, either Taliban related or some uncontrollable splinter group.
Or it could have just been one nutjob, like with JFK.
It really doesn't matter "who" did it at this point. The monster is out of the cage right now.

He didn't do much to protect her; but it will never be proven he had a hand in it, even if he did. We have given Pakistan millions of dollars to fight terrorism. Where do you think the money is going ?
