If it's a manual trans and is shifting hard, go to the dealer for syncro rings, bearings and have them check the gears for chipped teeth. If it's an automatic, the least expensive thing to do if the transmission is bad is replace it with a low mileage used unit. Any good repair shop should be able to handle the swap, hunt for the best estimate.

Acura is more expensive, and the wait time will be longer. But check around with warranties.
