Romney appears not wanting voters to talk about his mormon religion. And, many candidates are christains too and they don't about it that much.

He's using his faith to gain votes. For whatever reason, some people think that a cadidates faith is the only thing that makes a candidate worth voting for - not how they make decisions or how they feel about issues that are not religion-related (which... no issue should be tied in with religion)

I think its disgusting the way cadidates would manipulate people into voting for them, based on faith. There are politicians and pastors who are quoted in saying that they are not christians if they dont vote for someone that isnt a christian.

Huckabee is attempting to lock in the votes of the religious right. Romney does not want scrutiny of the Mormon beliefs (probably shocking to most Americans). The other candidates may have read the Constitution and know a religious litmus test to run for President is forbidden in the Constitution.

I blame all this emphasis on religious affiliation of the candidates on the media. If only even one candidate would decline to answer any question pertaining to his or her religious beliefs based on the Constitution, we might be spared all this holier than thou and get on to the real issues facing Americans.

Huckabee has to emphasize something lets see. Being that he is soft on criminals, pro-illegal immigration , wants to quarntine Aids patients, and a constant tax hiker I wonder what part of his record he could be possibly trying to draw attention away from. Its his way of assuging people who might not like some of his stances.

Huckabee is in the majority as a protestant, especially among Republicans, so he'd obviously want to flaunt his religion - it will get him votes in the primary. Romney is a real minority as a mormon, and Guiliani is a minority as well as a Catholic in the Republican party. It's all about getting votes.

Huckabee wants to appeal to the ultra-conservatives, and the voters who see a leader's religious values as very important. Romney doesn't want to bring up his Mormonism because he knows that it will deter voters.

Folks seem INTERESTED in where he stands with his Christian faith. He gets lot of QUESTIONS about it. It is refreshing to see a candidate not try to skirt around these issues when questioned. I am not sure I would vote for this man, I do not know enough about him yet, but some of his past political actions do not set well with me, so far.

Not everyone pimps their religious beliefs to advance politically. I find that rather refreshing.

I don't think he is emphasizing it. I think he is getting a lot of questions from the media about it and is simply clarifying his beliefs.
