I'd be asking all government politicians that question, not just the bushites. Didn't the newly elected Congress say the same with all its Pork Barrel mess. I strongly believe these politicians think they are "above" the american citizen. Take heed

It was clouded over by the smoke and mirrors. Bush is a liar and so anyone who actually believes that he would opt for a more transparent government is either stupid or gullible. Why should he? After all the lies, corruption, incompetence, arrogance and greed have served him well so far. Why stop now?

Hello:

I have noticed a trend in both politics and life. It is better to say that you are going to do something than actually do it. By taking this course of action you have it on record that you support said action while not actually needing to do anything. This has the advantage of keeping things the same will keep them from getting worse and you will not actually have to answer for the changes you never implemented.
