I was able to use my CD ROM and CD RW drive a couple of months ago, but when I tried to use it now, it's as if I don't have the drives. When I insert a CD, the drive where it's inserted don't appear in My Computer.

I checked in Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manger and saw my CD ROM and CD RW drive with a yellow circle with an exclamation icon beside it. When check the properties, I see the same message:

Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)

I already tried uninstalling both drives through device manager and rebooting the PC (they reinstalled themselves) but I still see the same message in their properties.

I need to do something very important but it is hindered by this problem. Any help or idea of what's the problem about will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Next time when you remove the drivers, disconnect the drives after shutting down. Restart, reinstall the drivers for the drive. When this is done, shutdown and reconnect the drives, when the computer restarts, it will search for the new drivers, and install them.

The problem is that the current drivers are corrupted, and new drivers need to be installed.

go to device manager then right click and update driver if u got nay disk that is of the company form it is than insert it and install the driver. if it doesn't work shut down and then unplug the cd/cdrw then plug it properly, then start again u should get the drivers, if not then the os may be corrupted , do 1 thing remove the drivers and check them in some another sysytem. also right click and check the properties to see it is working properly.

Visit the site below and follow the instructions to the letter. I say this because you need to make changes in your system registry.

Trust me, it does work, and although it says it's for Windows Vista, it also works with Windows XP.
