I had heartburn, terrible heartburn through all three of my pregnancies, but all of my kids were born without any hair at all. They were completely bald. The heartburn is caused from the pressure on your stomach as the baby grows. It causes the acid from your stomach to rise up your esophagus.

You can't say that heartburn causes or is an indication of the baby having a full head of hair, unless you have experienced the opposite (one or more children without hair when you have had no heartburn). Only THEN can you make a correlation between the two.

I think the heartburn is just because the baby presses on your stomach, and some of the stomach acid is forced up into your esophagus. Does the heartburn get worse as your baby gets larger?

Have you tried taking Tums or Rolaids?

They say there is no scientific merit between heartburn and hair on the babies head. However, my first daughter was born with a full head of hair too and I suffered horrific heartburn. Well I thought that was bad!! Now I'm in my second pregnancy and I have it twice as bad and all through the pregnancy (Not just at the end). I really think your baby will have hair because all your others did. Whether it's just coincidence or not, I do believe in it even if there is no scientific merit to adhere.

I think the hair and heartburn correalation is a old myth. As far as the heartburn is concerned, I had heartburn early in my preganacy and the doctor prescribed Zantac and it worked. You can also get ot over the counter, if the tums don't work.

there is no connection between stomach acid and hair on a baby.

to ease your heartburn, try:
- small, frequent meals rather than spaced out, large ones
- no acidic fruits/veggies (tomatoes, oranges, grapefruits, etc)
- no fruit juice
- no carbonated drinks
- no spicy food
- no greasy/fatty food
- peppermint (may feel cooling, but actually irritates)
- dont drink with meals
- don't eat or drink close to bedtime
- don't lay down for at least an hour after eating

you can take:
- tums
- mylanta
- if it is really bad, call your doc and ask if you can try zantac. it is approved for use during pregnancy, but you should double check first.

I had tons of heartburn and my son was a hairy little fart. He had hair on his shoulders, head everywhere. The thing about old wives tales/superstitions is we believe when they happen and ignore when they don't. Meaning if it happens 5 times we believe it and ignore the 3 times it didn't. Thus making it a true thing that happens all the time. Could be that you will have a hairy baby. Good luck!

My son had so much hair, the nurses from all 6 floors came to gawk. My wife had TERRIBLE heartburn. She took TUMS and slept in a recliner as much as possible. Those 2 things seemed to help.

i had the worst heartburn! i had peppermint tea, and took to just roaming the house trying to get my digestion going to ease my heartburn. a glass of milk is also meant to help, but this only helped me occasionally. have small meals and let this digest fully before the next meal. oh and guess what- my daughter had over an inch of hair all over her head, she is now 7 month, and im forever trimming her fringe so maybe thats one of the old wives tales that is true lol who knows!
