most likely a oil leak that is leaking onto the exhaust manifolds, which get very hot, and the oil is being burnt or cooked on the manifolds...most likely cause is a leaking valve cover gasket, but you will need to go by a shop and have them tell you for sure.....when you have your oil changed, they can look at it and tell you right away if you have a oil leak....another thing it could be is a component locking up causing the engine belt to burn, but you should hear a loud squealing noise if that were the case...get it checked out...

Burning Smell From Car

You know what??? You might have driven over some plastic (a bag, some wrapping of sorts, etc) and not have noticed it. It could be stuck to your muffler -- and when you drive, with the heat it melts away the plastic, making it smell like burning/melting plastic. Check under you car -- and see if you see what appears to be melted, and dried plastic (it's really hard at normal temp). This happened to me not too long ago -- and it's annoying b/c it smells all the time......It won't really damage your car, but you will just have to wait for it to finally burn off.

Like the other gentleman said, its probably an oil leak. My guess would be a valve cover that is leaking onto the exhaust manifold, causing the oil to burn. Smells pretty bad, but unless you are losing a TON of oil, its probably not that big of a deal. Check your oil every time you get gas, and top it off if you need to.

It could be mold or mildew in the vents. Warm it up, put the heater on and sniff the air coming out. Maybe a little "Fabreze" in the vents. Or it could be the last owner was a smoker. Or it could be damp carpets. If you spill a tiny bit of gas, it'll smell for a while, sometimes days.

why not get your oil changed now and find out. How long did you get this smell. could be a plastic bag caught on the bottom of your car or something else. better to safe than sorry-

If you were burning oil or gas, you would see smoke coming out... black'ish smoke for oil and blue'ish for gas.

It's hard to say... unless you get under the hood and really try to see where you smell it the most. it could be that your leaking radiator fluid...

Yes get the car checked. It may be something as simple as getting the oil checked or it may be something else. But, get it serviced before something happenes.
