This question is really for everyone, but its targeted really towards our gay population.

I consider men to be men, not BOYS. It about time the gay community starts looking at this issue very seriously. The general population seems to feel us gay guys always prey upon youth and thats not true. But the gay community seems to reinforce that belief by not labeling men as men in everyday speech.

A boy to me is under 13, a teenager is 13 to 18, a young adult is between 18 and 21. Why do people constantly label people wrong in context of their age.

Its certainly not helping the gay community gain any respect from the rest of straight society. I am a gay male and I refuse to label good looking adult men as boys.

This is also a hot-button issue with the conservative right wing too who would love to see every gay or lesbian adult hung from the highest limb and left for feed for the crows. And they wouldn't hesitate to do it!

As a 50 year old gay guy I have often heard attractive guys spoken of as boys. I believe it is our current gay cultures ideals of beauty - hairless, young looking, buff, etc. This too will change over time and there will be a new ideal. I am certain though that gay culture will never try to conform to the dominant cultures' warped morality just to gain acceptance, after all we are marginalized for a good reason, we celebrate sexuality and freedom not conformity and conservative values. The queerer the better in my book but hope that the gay community starts to see the value in our diversity and the beauty in all of us, even us older guys!

As someone that is called a ''Boy'', although I am in my 30's....I think that you are WAY off the mark. You are getting your feathers all ruffled over nothing. It's just a stupid word, jeez. I'm called a boy, simply because I look like one. And...I don't have a problem with it. I know that I'm a boy. I like it. My partner happens to find younger men attractive. Which, works in my favor.

This is not even close to being an issue.....AT ALL. There are WAY more important problems in the world that need addressing before your personal defiance of a word.

One more thing....just because you like to label people in a certain manner, doesn't make it right. What works for you, simply works for you....let's keep it that way!

I am sorry to tell you but I have seem many males both gay and straight well into their 30's that still behave like boys. I do not consider anyone in their teens anywhere near young adulthood and anyone under 13 is a child. I also do not request nor do I require straight society's acceptance.

its not really a big issue and your beliefs regarding what a boy is versus a man isn't really that important to the general population much less the gay population. Equal rights are much more important and that is where you should be spending your energy and not wasting time over silly things like how we refer to each other within our community.

My mother is 80 and still refers to her sons as her boys? Should we make this the next big campaign issue?

The use of "boy" denotes someone young (w/o any mention of specific age) and sort of gives a mental picture of someone with smooth skin, young looking face etc.

Porn sites and magazines capitalize on that as a marketing ploy (a rather effective one).

I have no idea where you dug up your "stats"...but none of the gay adult men I know refer to other gay men as "boys". I think the term "twink" is used for 18 year olds.
