and eventually had to spend a night(s)? where was the location, for how long were you stranded at airport and what was that experience like?

oh yeas, Charolette-Douglas Airport. We stayed over night for 12 hours.

Fortunately I've never had the misfortune of being stranded at the airport overnight but have experienced long delays and it was just frustrating to be stuck in the airport waiting and waiting.
