I moved to California when I was 18. I loved it there. The mountains were right in the back yard, the beach was close, & I would of stayed but my Mother got ill & I had to move back to Ohio. Shortly after I came back, my Mom passed.
Just like mister f said...follow your heart. It has worked for me everytime & if I don't...I regret it . It is your life & you need to live it as you choose. You can always go back to your home. I moved because my Dad had already passed, my Mom & I didn't get along very good. She was an alcoholic, but she was my Mom & I loved her.For me it was one of the best things I could of done. We made peace with one another & shortly there after, she was gone. I have found out that little voice inside me is pretty smart. Just because you move some place to make you happy doesn't mean that you are abandoning your parents. You will make it a point to visit them frequently. Wish you luck in your quest. =o}

OH yes......but I did not move until I made peace with where I lived. I've moved many times in my job because I have a sense of adventure and want to experience life at its fullest and best. Moving gives me an opportunity to meet different people, sample different cultures even within the US and make contacts which may be useful later on. The only exception to this occured when I was 21. I had long felt uncomfortable living in the state where I was born. This had little to do with the state itself but more to do with my dysfunctional family. I was very unhappy for most of my childhood and when I was 21, I joined the Air Force and began my life away from "home". I have not looked back, not once. I felt very relieved when I finally escaped but as someone else mentioned, my "problems" came with me. I had to undergo an attitude change which freed me from the past....I had to accept that things were just as they were and that in order for me to feel happy anywhere, I had to change my thinking. Over time, my thinking did change, improved, and now I can feel happy anywhere I go. I prefer the sunshine so live in places where it is abundant most of the year. Finally, if you feel unhappy where you are, try to pinpoint what it is you are not comfortable with, find some resolution and THEN move to another place. Life IS an adventure and exploring is so good for our soul.

Well, I have visited my favorite state on vacation and I really love it, but do not live in, and I have always hated the state I do live in...
I never have been able to move because of costs associated with the move...
I have visited my favorite state twice in my life and been happy there both times on vacation...
I was always depressed when I got back home...
So I would advise, if you can actually afford to move, then do so...

I don't know your story, but if you are unhappy in one state you just might be unhappy in another. Problems tend to follow you. Maybe you have a good reason to up and move to another state, I don't know only you can make that decision.
