Copyright vs. originality....?

Question

My teacher asked me for an original piece which I can draw or represent...so I drew from a photograph using an ink technique and have added some changes...
is that acceptable?
I do not wish to sell my work, this is for evaluation

I'm not sure if your teacher wanted 100% originality from you. Ask her if using a reference photo was ok, she may have wanted you to do it completely on your own with your own work not with a guide of any sort.
