i stay in a poorly insulated house. Despite the heaters my feet just freeze. How can I prevent this? Like any specific costume for keeping feet warm etc...

If you are sitting at a desk for the computer and your feet are freezing there, you can get an underdesk panel heater. It attaches under the desk where your feet are and mounts on the inside back panel. It uses about 40 watts and costs $30-$40. For pennies a day you can keep your feet warm there.

For the rest of the time, any pair of socks is an improvement over bare feet. To go first class get a pair of fuzzy slippers - get them in Christmas colors marked down at after-Christmas sales.

You can buy a pair of thermal socks, either wool or some of the thinsulate infused type they have now. They are over the calf most of the time, bulky so they need about a half size larger slipper or shoe, but they do work. Problem is when you take them off. Be sure to be close to your bed because your feet will cool off rapidly due to the moisture containment the socks create. When outside, I wear a very thin pair of nylon socks under the thermal socks, just works better.

My mom got some slippers for Christmas that can be warmed up in the microwave.

Use hand-warmers on your feet and cover them up with a couple pair of socks or one really thick pair.
