This song makes me smile. And my smile gets wider and wider as it plays. Am I crazy?

Prof Anger - TMBG is one of my favorite bands. There song indefinitely do incorporate humor. I have always liked the song "MInimum Wage."

Grandaddy is one of my favorite bands. Some of their best songs are on some older ep's and are out of print. LIke "What Can't be Erased" and "Protected from the Rain."

Can't go wrong with Woody Woodpecker and double bass pedals!!! lol

What got my attention about Dan Deacon (actually his 2007 recording "Spiderman of the Rings" is considered one of the best albums of the year.

Conie - Sigur Ros is great. And for much of their songs I can't put a word to explain it. It's all emotion.

MachPen - Wolf Parade seems to be the most underground band mentioned here. I have to say I have not listed much to their music. I am checking them out now along with Mars Volta. :-)

Rckets - I have to admit I don't listen to metal much. Although I don't discard it. I know their are very talented bands in that genre. However, I have read many of your posts and you often mention another side of metal that interests me.

I agree with Cinnamon about Van Morrison's 'Moondance', and I'd also say 'Baby Please Don't Go' by Them.

I have several 'feel good' songs, including :~

Second Hand News ~ Fleetwood Mac
Mr Blue Sky ~ ELO
Under A Violet Moon ~ Blackmore's Night
The Witch's Promise ~ Jethro Tull
Expresso Love ~ Dire Straits
Sunny ~ Georgie Fame

I have a couple. Stevie Wonder has a cover of We Can Work It Out by the Beatles that has just the funnest vibe to it. It's one of those songs that just sounds like there was a big party going on in the studio.

It's totally cheesy, and it has mostly to do with dorking out with my sister back in the day, but 10th Avenue Freeze-out by Bruce Springsteen gets me grinning, and there is involuntary head bobbing that takes place.

They Might Be Giants' Hot Cha is another one. That whole record (Flood) really puts me in a good mood. It's very silly, the songs are quick and it just has a fun vibe to it. I don't think I've ever heard Minimum Wage without cracking a big smile and making the whip motion with my hand. I think I had to laugh until the effect lessened at about listening #50 or so. Big nostalgia record which gives it a good bump too.

And Simon and Garfunkel's the Big Bright Green Pleasure Machine. It's just got that old Paul Simon thing to it. It's clever, bouncy, really fun melody and lyrics. I mean how can a song called the Big Bright Green Pleasure Machine not make you smile. They were so good.

The Woody Woodpecker is awesome. I totally see what you mean, it's like Jason Lytle did a bunch of acid. Or maybe the Mates of State (they actually came to mind first but I like Grandaddy more and it fits just as well escpecially in an Arm of Roger sort of a way).

**************
I'll have to have a look at it between the tune and a great album title sounds pretty awesome.
I love Grandaddy. I kind of overplayed them a couple years ago and set them aside (it was a binge that rates in the top 5 or so of all the band binges I've ever had), but the last couple days they've been on the brain a lot. I think it's about time I dusted them off.
The Mars Volta are really good too. Frances the Mute in particular was an amazing record. Though I think big fans of the band in general seem to be more partial to Deloused in the Comatorium.

Hi Mach Pen. Happy Holidays! Now that I read what I put down I wrote it pretty ambiguously for what I meant. I like both of them a lot too. I was just thinking of a starting point. I'm not sure which one works better.
