SOme say they mitake them for seals but even when some people are in a boat, sharks attack them. They say it is cruel for us to kill sharks but when sharks kill us we have to let them go and all the person who dies gets is a report on the news?

Why do sharks do this? Are they just cold-blooded killers!!? and why does society treat sharks better than they do humans??

Yes, a lot of people here are right, mistaken for seals is the main reason, and when sharks attack humans they take a bite realize yuck, this isn't a fat filled yummy seal and leave the person be and they die of blood loss.
Now about sharks killing people in boats, can you show me a story a proved story of this actually occurring, I've never heard of this ever occurring, maybe post a link to a website or something.
If you have a personal grudge against sharks I understand but don't worry most sharks aren't cold blooded killers just, and you're gonna hate this word, misunderstood. Just never swim with an open wound in shark infested waters and you'll be fine. In fact don't swim in shark infested waters period.

Hope this helps.

Well, as a matter of fact, they are cold blooded and they are killers. The fact is, sharks are just doing what nature intended them to do, to find the weak and the sick and to remove them from the environment. In the ocean, we are definitely weak. Sharks almost never attack anyone in a boat, they do, however, mistake the magnetic field from metal objects such as boats or engines as the magnetic field from a living being and therefore will sometimes bite or more often, mouth the item in question.
Society doesn't treat sharks better than humans. In fact, they treat sharks pretty poorly. We do stupid things in their environment and then blame the shark who is only doing what it's designed and intended to do. Humans kill millions of sharks every year with no information about how fast they are reproducing or how long they typically live. This means we have no meaningful data on whether these killings can be sustained or whether sharks will become endangered. Sharks, aside from being an important part of the food chain in the ocean are also important from a research standpoint because they dont' get cancer which could be exceedingly important for future cancer research.

Humans get more than enough attention from the media. Ever watch the news, or listen to the radio? It's all about whos murdered who but it's never about animals. So your question makes no sense, because it's obvious that people are so ignorant that they only care about their own species. Why do you think the RSPCA doesn't even get financial help from the government?
Aside from this,
- sharks kill because they've either mistaken a human from a seal [this person must have been pretty dumb to enter their teritory anyway]
- They usually only take one bite and then swim away, because they've made this mistake [proving they don't deserve to die for this]. This means that humans don't taste very nice or is lacking in fat.
- it is also to do with the fact that humans give off different electrical signals than seals do making the sharks more cautious.

Why not do some of your own research? This was a thoughtless question. [...twat]

NO!! sharks are not cold blooded killers. look sharks kill because they are looking for food. sometimes it can be a case of mistaken identity cause if you've ever seen a surfer on the surface of the water it sure looks a hell of a lot like a seal. and sometimes the shark gets curious as to what humans are so the take a test bite which unfortunately can be fatal. and we as humans can't just go around killing things because they may harm us sometimes, cause we have harmed them more then they have ever harmed us. if we just go killing all the sharks, then there will be an over population of certian sea life and that will screw up the entire planet. so that's why socitey treats animals so well, because if something gets too out of balance the the planet will become screwed up. and guess what i love all animals especially sharks!!

they do it out of basic instinct. They're hungry, so they eat. They go for the easy kill which, in most cases are humans. When a shark kills a human, they aren't punished because it is programmed into them. It isn't something they can help. As to your other question- "and why does society treat sharks better than they do humans??" I think that it might seem like that mainly because humans can't put a shark in jail. They don't follow the same laws or rules as we do.

Shark attacks on humans are extremely rare. There have been only 9 fatal attacks in the US since 2000 - that is just over one per year. None of these attacks were on people in boats. Considering the number of people swimming, diving, surfing, etc. that is an insignificant number.

Humans do not treat sharks better than humans. 25 - 50 million sharks are killed by humans every year. I think it is obvious who the cold-blooded killers are.

Sharks Killing Humans

There was an incidence in Miami Aquarium in the 1950's in which a dolphin killed a Sand Shark when one of the females was nearing the time of giving birth. Dolphins have been known to ram into a sharks gills in order to incapacitate them, sometimes causing death to the shark. However, there are many more incidences of sharks being dissected only to find dolphin remains in the stomachs. I think it would be difficult for a similarly sized shark, of any species, to kill a dolphin in a confrontation, mainly because of the dolphins intelligence and the shark's raw animal instincts. The dolphin is not going to kill the shark either though, it will escape. Dolphins and Porpoises live in family units and it is rare for one to be separated, however it does happen and they are then open game for larger sharks. Hope this answers your question sufficiently!!!!!!

What do you mean why do sharks do this..sharks are wild animals and will eat a person if given the chance just like hundreds of other species that would do the same thing. So, basically you are asking...why do sharks eat? Why does any animal eat..because they are hungry? Your question lacks logic. You are also obvioulsy uneducated...because sharks are very misunderstood animals..people slaughter them ALL the time...simply for existing. What are you talking about sharks being treated better than humans...where exactly do you see this happening?

Confusion, mostly. Not enough fat on most swimmers to interest a shark, but we look a lot like sea lions or seals to them from below, and those are both really fatty prey, high on their menu.

The reason sharks get more slack than humans is because, as apex predators, they play a vital part in the ecosystems that we do not yet fully understand. Scientists don't want them all destroyed before we can understand what functions they provide, and what we might learn from them.

We know, for example, that sharks do not get cancer. But we do not know why.
