My Beardie may be sick. Two days ago I changed his living environment from carpet to sand. As a result he ate some of the sand when eating his crickets. Since then he hasn't eaten at all and is barely moving. Can I rinse his stomach?

Sand is the worst, if you must have it DON'T feed on it.

Here is what you can try. Well 1st, bearides don't like change and any one of them act strange when things are changed in their home. Second, watch for bowel movements, eating, and activity. Soak your baby in some warm water twice a day to see if it helps the bowel movements.

The sand clumps whe it gets wet, in turn clumps your baby's belly and can be like cement. So many people have impaction problems from sand.

Get slate tiles from your local home improvement store. I got them for like a buck a tile, had them cut and i love them. They not only help keep the ground warm, it helps files the beardies nails too.

It sounds like impaction though. Rinse his stomach? I don't know how you would go about that.If there is any sand in there the last thing you want to do is add more water.

Of course better to be safe than sorry, take the little on to a vet that knows about these reptiles. Not all vets are good with exotic pets. Call around to exotic pet stores see if they can recommend anyone, if not get out the ol' phone book and call all the ones in your area.

Sand isn't good for a young beardie...it can cause impaction if they ingest it. Go back to the reptile carpet (or use paper towels or non-adhesive shelf liner or tiles).

Visit http://www.beardeddragon.org for advice on how to help with the impaction for now.

First get rid of the sand, and he would have had to eaten allot of sand in order to be impacted. If he is he will loose use of his back legs, the only thing is taking him to a vet.
