Yay! Greek logic!
*rubs hands together*
- You are yourself.
- Initial internal knowledge is eternal.
Thus, you have the potential internal knowledge to discovering yourself at birth.
So, for example you couldn't learn who you are from anyone else could you? And for the people who try are using the projection theory (consciously or not) : they act in a way which they think is themselves, or act in a way that they think they want to be, calculate how others react to this projected "self", and use those reactions to shape themselves further. But of course, this will only lead you to a self that society has ultimately shaped.
And so you ask, why doesn't my two-year-old baby brother know himself? He has the knowledge, as you said! Well, it differs how one unearths this knowledge and if they really use it at all. I believe many things help you to the realization of self, like experience. Which would explain your baby brother.
In actuality, you really are the only one who can know yourself, and in turn are the only thing you can fully know.
Ah! Nothing like Greek logic in the morning. Thanks. E-mail me if I wasn't entirely clear on something. :)

I am a collection of life and a habitat for microscopic material, evolved from the delicate relationship of cellular anatomy. I am impulsive, electrically speaking, my mind sparks constantly with thoughts and concern.
I am caring and ungrateful, and am the least bit in control over my own emotions. Yet knowledge is a step in the right direction. I am a thinker, one of a billion sadly, but a thinker none the less.
I am loving of myself and those with whom I share this existence. I am hateful towards myself and with whom I share this existence.
I am an over developed being who fears under development.
I must make all that I am irrelevant to all that I feel, otherwise I will never know what it is to feel unconditional contentment.
I am only human

It isn't possible to 'know' something that is imagined other than to 'make believe' that this idea or construct has ethereal form in some way.
The 'self' is imagined and used to interpret the world as 'the thinker' but in actuality there isn't anything there but an idea.

No.... there is a paradox here... the moment I know myself, I undergo a change and hence I am back to square one... in any case I am undergoing continuous change which means at no point in time I know myself really or completely.

You can't fully know yourself, but you can learn to trust certain feelings and deduce what will make you the happiest for the rest of your life.

i know myself, because i live it, i know who I'm , i know what I'm capable of, i have knowledge of wisdom, i know my weakness and straight, so one can have a say on how i am, okey something i do doubt myself because i didn't work hard in school, and teachers or people that i know say u are smart or a good girl , to think i can build my confidence from what they say , but it hard ,because i lack confidence. so yeah i kinda don't really know myself in the positive department , but that doesn't mean i don't know myself at alot , because i do , and i don't give a damn what other say or think of me. it just that i have problem not having confidence in me and i doubt my self often.

No..but I'm sure anyone truly can, as we are constantly changing. I am beginning to understand myself and my needs but to KNOW myself, that may be impossible.

Most people don't because they would then have to think and to take responsibility of their own actions. I am learning myself now
