I don't know about a full blown recession but I think that now is probably not a good time to get into a lot of debt. At least in Canada. When our $$ gets too strong interest rates go up, so as long as we can keep our debt low...and our jobs (lots of US companies bailing out)...we should be OK.

I know I would rather buy food and gas than gifts for friends and family they probably wont use after the first day of Christmas. That's why I made them gifts this year. And the only thing on my wishlist was tires and things I know I need but can't afford.

Maybe Christians are clueing in on the real meaning of Christmas? Really, all that stuff coming out of the malls is just future fodder for garage sales, ebay, Goodwill, etc.
