They give to people that never have any answers that Yahoo deems useful? That way when someone with one of those badges answers your question you don't have to bother reading their answer because you know it is useless.

Edit: Kit - I love George, I have a huge picture of him reclining on a couch in his underwear (remember that one)!

Considering that more than half of my answers are in P&S, I would definitely have that badge.
I think a "Useless Contributor" badge would be the same thing as "Top Contributor in Polls and Surveys". Which is probably why Yahoo! doesnt have a badge for P&S.

No, not unless we're willing to research every answer they've ever given. I sometimes (rarely) give joking (read useless) answers, either regarding the question or adding to the thread of someone else's joking answer.
It would give people too much power. Although there are many deserving people, those same people would misuse that as well further taking away from the community.

Your "Check Spelling" feature is: A. A back-sliding Theist who is not listening their Higher Power. B. An Agnostic who hasn't made up its mind as to what is correct. C. An Atheist who has decided that proper spelling is the opiate of the masses. Try another feature for checking the spelling, because you will likely not get the feature to agree with you, whatever your spiritual preference might be!

Yes,indeed..they have taken away my prized..."Best Contributor" badges twice already..so bring on ..the most "Useless Contributor' badge already..Like my mentor George Castanza.."I am..without Shame!" (Useless I may be..but I don't have to pay for fruit and vegetables...and my snakeskin boots are coming along just fine)..send ya a photo when I get one of those "cameras"..Ha! ( Ohh..Dad..Where were you..? Getting orange again..Mum is waiting for you!!!)
*EDIT*...BF..You have scarred me! And ..Smiley..Dad..you are not my.. Dad.. anymore...I say "Good-day!Sir!"

I really don't that is a good idea.
Someone who usually has a useless answer might get lucky and have a best answer that might get over looked because of that badge.
My opinion.

Yes they should...I find the bright orange really enhances my tan.
Ahaa! I know you read it!
Edit
Kit - Mum is now a crack whore somewhere in LA, and I'd rather not talk about her if it's all the same with you son. She broke my heart. Though I do understand why you'd want to remain in contact with her...
Edit
Kit...I am your Father! We must stick together through all this!
Oh, by the way, here's a picture of me and my pretty yellow Lamborghini...the chicks dig it!

If you're nice I'll let you drive it...just don't let Mom see it!

I guess. But why? It just shows how bad those people are at answering questions. No pride there.

i think all the badges are pointless. Do you get something special for having one? I didn't think so.

All those people who respond with:
"IDK"
"Shut up, this is a bad question"
and
"Who cares"
automatically get one!
