absence makes the heart grow fonder. thank God that family reunions are often short and far in between or we would be at each others throats.

The excitement of seeing family members after such a long time and the festivity the day before often lingers in my mind after a family reunion and will remain forever imprinted in my memory that will last me until the next time. And yes, maybe a feeling of desolation too knowing that it will take a year or two before all of us can be together once again.

I usually kick myself for thinking once again our family reunion will be fun, loving and caring as friendly-family wise but as usual there are the ones present that whisper lies and start gossip behind certain ones backs causing drama and hurt.
I do not go to family reunions anymore. I stopped attending 15 years ago. I send cards to the older family members at appropiate times and those being the ones that are the same everytime you see them and have qualities of love for others.

A full stomach and a hang-over. ^_^
Kidding aside, its a mix of happiness and sadness. A bit of sadness because you know that it would be not possible to stay with the whole clan (or with the relatives you actually like) for a longer time.
A reunion would most likely make me happier because it is a good chance to update yourself with whats going on with your cousins' and other relatives' lives. It is also the best time to exchange and swap numbers/email addresses to be able to plan other night outs/ trips/ drinking sessions without having to wait for the next reunion. ^_^

I stay in contact with my family members, but every time we reunion my heart jump of excitement and happiness, and it's true that absence makes the heart grow fonder! but reunions strengthen the relationship between family members, and that what matters for me.

Depends on the ambience.
If the place is small, and so many kids running around and bumping on your knees every now and then, I could be having a fit of depression even when it's not over yet.

I feel happy because I am with the people I miss the most. The depression sinks in after the party - when the realization that it will be months or years before I see them again =)
