You have not stated whether it is a front or rear wheel drive, but assuming it is a front wheel drive it sounds very much like the near side drive shaft bearing has worn. Check underneath and see if the protective rubber gaiter has split. If it has then you can more or less state that this is the fault. Hope this helps. If it was a wheel bearing the noise would get louder when turning to the right as more pressure is applied to that side of the vehicle. if it was wheel balance it would happen at around 40 mph and you would feel it through the steering wheel.

There could be a couple of things that it could be, first as you correctly assumed there may be an issue with the wheel bearing. The way to check it is to take the car for a drive and as soon as you get home feel the centre of the wheel hub. If it feels hot to touch then the bearings are probably on the way out.
Another way to test is to jack the car up, holding the wheel at the top and bottom wiggle the wheel back and forth. If there is a lot of movement then again the wheel bearings need replacing.
Another thing to check is the brake pads, some times if the pads are worn down the callipers don't release when you take your foot of the peddle.

Sounds like the wheel bearing. I had the same happen to me on an older car. It'll cost about £40-50 depending where you go but its not too serious. You can keep driving like that for a while yet. Get it seen too but you don't have to drop everything to do it right now. (the noise gets v annoying though!!)

sounds like the wheel bearing has gone. jack up that sie and both hands on the wheel first at 3 and 9 then 12 and 6 and check to see if it wobbles. i would have it changed anyway it should cost around £50.changing the wheel wont make any difference.

Jack it up and spin the wheel. You can hear a bearing, or roll forward and have somebody walk next to it.

sounds to me like the wheel bearing has gone bad, replacing the tire will not fix. it will need to go to a brake specialist for repair
