For some reason I can't sync my Ipod becasue that function is there but not available. Does it mean because of my desktop I can't transfer my songs or what. The USB port says it needs a port of 2.0 or higher if I get this will it help? I am confused I already have an itunes account and have downloaded itunes. The Ipod connects and charges but nothing else happens. Please see my earlier question and maybe you could answer both.

Install the major update to 2003 if you don't have it already. It includes full Vista support.

You should already have USB 2.0, but if you don't, it's required. Check your device manager. If you're not sure, install it anyway.

Windows 2003? I remember there being a server version of that, but I don't recall ever seeing a workstation version...

The easiest way to determine what OS you're using:
1) Go to your Windows desktop
2) Locate your My Computer icon and do a right-click on it
3) Select Properties from the drop-down menu
4) Look at the main page of the System Properties window. It will list your current operating system there.

If your OS is Windows 2003, then you're probably out of luck. If it shows as Windows XP or Vista then you should certainly be able to use iTunes. In that case you should definitely look for a USB 2.0 port to use.
