Humans are evil?

NO! Humans are NOT evil. However, humans one of only a few species of animals that are capable of BEING evil.

And why is that? Because humans have the ability to choose between instinct and reason, between fact and fiction and between right and wrong...and to top it off, we can even define what we consider right and wrong. Most 'evil' people don’t see them selves as evil. Hitler, Stalin, Mao, they all believed they were doing what was right for their people. If you were to ask them, the rest of the world was wrong, not them.

Look at it his way, in the United States, the ONLY reason why the Confederate States (the South) was 'wrong' was because they lost the Civil war. If they had won, then the North would have been in the wrong. The same is true of World War I, WWII and every war ever fought.

So, it's not that Humans are evil, it that humans can do evil.

Good people and good actions exist, but part of the problem is that evil acts greatly overshadow acts of goodness and I think truely good people are rare. I mean feeding the poor is great and all, but it doesn't really compare to choosing to gun down an innocent family with small children in cold blood.
People say the root of all evil is money but I think it's really extreme selfishness. Money is just one really powerful selfish motivator.
Having worked with many "average" people in real estate and it's a powerful eye opener into human nature. I can tell you that most people are pretty selfish. They have no loyalty (you can work hard for them for a month straight and they will ditch you in a second for another agent), other agents will stab you in the back to secure more profit for themselves, and sellers pretty much always lie about the condition of their properties - as an example. Yeah in all of those cases it was about money, but money is just something they "want" and don't care about hurting others to get it (just like in rape the person wants the sex regardless of the other person).

But the interesting thing is, that if evil is extreme selfishness, and most people are pretty selfish by nature, it follows that most people are at least on the spectrum leaning towards evil and most people have great potential for evil if they embrace that nature that seems to be dominant.
And for the others that have posted regarding do I feel superior-
Yes, sorry to say I do. I have never understood nor participated in making fun of other people - something most kids and adults even around me seem to enjoy regularly.
I have never understood the extreme narcisism of the captistic bosses around me that are not happy taking enough profit, but have to have it all no matter what the consequences.
I could go on and on - but there is a difference between me and many of you.
