Well I extracted my files from the zipped folders, and I also have some .rar files, but how do I actually get these to the sims 2 pc game?

So I already have them in the download folder, do they automattically go to the game then?

Instead of messing around with your folders, I suggest the The Sims 2 File Maid!
All you do is take your unzipped files and drag it to the grassy area. The best thing is you can do multiple files at a time.
I will warn you not to use this for Hacks. That I suggest you manually put in you The Sims 2>Downloads folder, incase you ever decied you want to take them out.

RAR files are the same as ZIP files, they just need a different program to extract. It's called WinRar. Download that and extract the proper files to:
My Documents > EA Games > The Sims 2 > Downloads

For the zipped files once you've extracted, put the extracted files into My documents, ea games, The Sims 2, Downloads.

Yeah, they automatically go in the game once they're in the downloads folder. Though there is different types of files.
