Ok, so my last appointment was on 12/26 and I was at 38 weeks. This is my second pregnancy, with my first I was induced at 3cm 60%. I have horrible pressure and can hardly move, sit stand, walk, get dressed or do anything. I have contractions every 3-5 min. and they are about 30 seconds to a min each time. The doc said my contractions are not thinning me only dilating me. Is there anything I can do to try to maybe speed this up a bit or help it to move along?
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!

Sex, there is something in sperm that causes your cervix to thin. But if your 4cm, and having contractions ever 3-5 minutes you really should be in the hospital. My doctors have told me once my contractions are averaging 5 minutes apart regardless of my dilation & effacement that I should go straight to the hospital.
Sex is the best way to thin your cervix, everything else just helps you to dilate. Also, to help your baby drop more you can sit on a yoga ball or birthing ball and rock from side to side, and gently bounce.
Good luck, hope this helps!

Good grief. Has he said anything about an induction? I would think about getting a second opinion but I always thought that you are supposed to be admitted at 4 cm's. I am not sure if it's too late now but I always drank raspberry tea because it prepares the womens body for this. My babies (5) usually came between 1-3 hours after my first contraction. I wish you luck and feel for you. The end of pregnancy can be so miserable. Mine did come late. At 2 weeks late with my first one I went to the hospital with my bag packed and had my Dr. paged. I said I wasn't leaving til I had a baby. I had a stress test and he said ok. May be something else you want to try if things don't speed up. Good luck.

I am in the same position excepts i am 37 weeks. I am over 3 cm dilated not quite 4 though. I'm in a lot of pain also. I will have contractions 4-6 minutes apart for hours then they stop. I went to my doc yesterday to and they just blow me off and say come in when they get stronger and painful or if my water breaks!! So I don't know what to do either. Plus I am still working and I'm afraid I'm just going to suddenly go into full labor. Let me know if you get a good answer lol! Good luck

Primrose oil... insert 1 gelcap 3X a day. There is also something the doc can insert to help thin your cervix... he/she should be considering that if there is concern... at 38 weeks you are really considered full term so I'm unsure why your OB would allow you to go through all of that. I would talk to your doctor about your discomfort and see what your options are. Be sure to explain your discomfort and express what you feel should be done.

If you want to get into labor.. Walking would get you started. Eat some spicy food that could get you into labor.

ask an obstetrical doctor if the labour will end naturally or need cesarean section?
