I agree with you, for many she will now be seen as a martyr and the death of a martyr puts the fire of revolution in people's bellies. I will observe with sad interest as the repercussions and ramifications of her murder transpire.

There COULD be a three-way civil war.

Secular Bhutto supporters, lawyers, and moderate Muslims vs. Musharraf and military supporters vs. Islamists

However, what will probably happen is that Musharraf will use this as an excuse for further crackdowns on liberties, and he will wipe out the moderates.

Then angry people who oppose his U.S.-backed military regime will begin to support the Islamists.

This is what happened in Iran, when the U.S.-backed Shah attacked his secular leftist opponents, and left an opening for the Islamists who currently run that country.

In fact, the Islamists in Iran were actually SUPPORTED by the U.S. and Shah at first, because they provided muscle to help overthrow the anti-British and anti-U.S. elected prime minister Mossedeq back in the 1950s.

Imperialist-backed dictators have a history of shooting themselves in the foot.

I think Musharraf may have just done that in Pakistan by sponsoring Bhutto's assassination. It is still a matter for debate as to whether the U.S. approved this, or merely remained silent while it was engineered.

Now we will see if the moderate left and secular Muslims will rule after Musharraf, or the Islamists.

But either way, Musharraf is through. It's only a matter of time.
