Hey Tex,you are mixing water and electricity. Are you sure you want the cheapest?

You can get tetra whisper heater's fairly cheaply, from wal mart or petsmart, but you cant adjust the temp on them. I have one in my hospital tank and it's been fine for years it keeps the tank at a steady 76 degrees. spend a little extra money and get a good one with adjustable temp for your main tank, and depending on the kind of fish you keep you may need to get one that is shatter / impact resistant. I learned that the hard way when my Oscars started ramming it and ended up breaking it. Luckily the heater was unplugged since i live in TX too i don't use it during the summer. But it was a huge mess and ended up costing me more money in the long run. Check petsmart, and pet co, there are some privately owned fish stores in the Dallas area, but they're usually a little more expensive than the big guys. Feel free to email me if you'd like the names of a few places up there.
