The prompt, is "Have you had any diversity in life that you may want to explain?" My dad is in the Navy, and we moved to Guam for a few years, but i want to write about re-adapting to American culture... does this make sense? How do I do it tactfully? Any suggestiong or comments would be great! Thanks!

Just like any essay, start with writing down note of interest that you may want to expand on. You will know as you go what is good and what to leave out. BE TRUTHFUL! It is difficult comming back to America from living in a foreign land for some time. Culture shock goes both ways. Excellent topic that affects many, many kids today including military kids and missionary kids, not to mention kids who have parents who work in overseas programs.

My husband's family was moved to South Africa when he was 3. They were there for 4 years. His schooling was really screwed up after returning to the States and had to be held back. This effected him all during school and has given him a false belief that he just isn't good enough to learn certain things.

Yes, this makes sense, but what a poorly-written question! Or does the question ask about "adversity", not "diversity"? Adversity would mean opposition or difficulty.

Diversity for the university usually means that the students, faculty, staff and administration collectively represent very disparate backgrounds or perspectives. I've never heard of asking about the diversity of an individual!
