What I'm wondering is when is it "safe" to have sex again? It has been 2 weeks, I at the end of my pack, I have gotten my period AND the bleeding that happens when you miss a pill. I know this is confusing, but any advice would be great. Thanks!

Terri,
I'm on Kariva too! I didn't take 2 pills at once because I've done it before and it made me sick. I thought that if I'm just going to throw up the 2 pills what is the chance?
I have also never missed one before - ever. It just slipped my mind one night, I got up and got a drink of water to take it with and then only drank the water ...
thanks for your help!

Wait - what I just wrote didn't make sense. I have missed once before, right when I started taking it. That's when I took 2 at once and got sick. I am dumb sometimes, and I apologize for the confusion!

Read the instructions that come with your pill, as they will usually give specific information about that type of pill and their recommendations. Usually once you have been taking the pill for 48 hours you are safe, but to be ultra-safe I would wait 7 days of pill taking. Use condoms as well if you're unsure, or ask your doctor for more specific advice on what to do when you miss a pill. :)

I'm not exactly sure, but I would say use a backup method until 7 days into your next pack. That's what is recommended when your first start the pill, so I would apply the same logic here. Good Luck and Stay Healthy!

READ the pamphlet that came with your pill pack.

What pill are you on???

The pamphlet, the doctor, the pharmacist, or googling your pill online will give you what to do when you miss a pill and what you need to do regarding protection from pregnancy when you do so.

MINE, Kariva, tells me to take the pill as soon as I remember and then to take the next pill at the regularly scheduled time.

Use a back up method for at least 2 weeks and double up until you are back on track
