I don't think carried it, but had it at home, which is why he was robbed and murdered at home. If he carried it, you think they wouldn't have robbed him at home where he might have a gun or two stashed.

David Akeman,or String Bean as he was called,Was known to carry money with him and kept money at his home.This had to do with his family's loss during the depression.So he did not have a trust in the banking system.
The murder of him and his wife was later proved to be a random act.
