I was 14 and I traveled from Norwich to Frankfurt, overnight ferry crossing in the middle. The journey took about 24 hours and was very boring but safe cos you could do that stuff in those days

Went by train from Chicago to Indianapolis once. It beats flying because you can see the landscape as it goes by instead of just a bunch of clouds.

I've never been on a "real" train. Unless you count BART (Bay Area Rapid Transport) in CA a "real" train. I don't.

It was fun.... went from New York to Jacksonville when I was 16.... had a sleeper coach thing.... just slept most of the time to the gentle rocking and clickity-clank clickity-clank....

honestly I was pretty excited (18) and I kept talking to people and telling them that it was my first time on the train
