Little two stroke engines have a trick to start. On a motorcycle I would slow-kick the kick starter a couple of times with the ignition OFF. One could hear the pressure build up around the piston head. The next kick would start the bike with the ignition on and full throttle on the gas. Same way with the weed-eater. Same way with the neighbor's powered skateboard. I built up the pressure inside the engine tugging the pull cord and turned on the ignition, pulled hard on the pull cord, with full throtlle on the gas.

silly question time , you have been putting in oil in the fuel at the correct mixture have'nt you? or is this a self mixer?
If it is not a self mixer and no oil in the petrol you have burnt the piston rings out this happens very quickly, like on many scooters as well as they are at high revs a lot.
You could be lucky and just get away with piston rings and piston head or if unlucky all previous and a re-bore of the cylinder head.

Make sure the spark plug or plugs are clean and the correct gap. Check the petrol filter and see that the petrol pump is working properly. Check the air filter see that it is clean. If you can check that the timing is correct. Is the oil petrol mixture correct. If all that is okay then it should start.
