the caste system arose long back with for a good purpose that is to uplift all the tribes n castes which were left behind in the race of developing india...the foremost concern was to pull india outta the crucial economic crisis it faced in 1966. but now the need to erase all such boundaries of caste n tribes is being seen (take u for eg.)but many places need such a discrimination because the public of backward class demands so like things available at cheaper rates ..education nearly free..unless n untill all this is not being taken advantage of (govt included) it works for the development of our country .yet no society is free of the problem makers who are a black mark on the face of humanity..n thus arises the hard feelings..one man cant work against this..there has to be a day wen our papers will read '' all indians one'' this shud happen seeing the graph of uprisings against this ..take for ex reservation issue in AIMS,IIT.. the fever will catch up..im sure in every sector ..n then there will be no caste sys n then ...may b i can marry my boyfriend without any social disapproval!!!!!!!

I am sorry if I disappoint you my friend, but it is not going to happen anytime. It had been deliberately fed by the politicians indirectly for votebank and they have come to stay for elections and sharing of money ,liquour and power later. There are quotas in each state for castes in cabinets and corporations. Constitution provided for the very much needed upliftment of SCs and STs but only creamy 5%garnered the benefits and rest are trying to take advantage of the provisions. The sane voice among them is drowned in this rancour and the plight of the downtrodden at village level is still appalling. Economic disparity constantly fuels the division. The forward castes feel they are hard done and the downtrodden feel they are neglected. Both of them vote and Govt., of any party is happy. With profound sorrow I watched the caste system become more rigid and defined in the past two decades where as it should have been the other way round with increasing education ,opportunities and Globalvillage phenomenon. The educated are excelling in using it for lobbying and personal ends.Reservations sadly alienated the castes instead of bridging the gaps and mutual distrust and hatred is an undercurrent felt if you carefully observe. It is going to stay ,and God forbid may become more pronounced!

It would be good for them both and the region. The culture languages and tradition of people of northern Indian and Pakistan are mostly same. But there are difficulties: 1. Political greed for holding powerful positions, this was the main reason behind partition in the first place. However, at the time of partition Indian subcontinent had less number of people educated at world level, and these people held high positions. 2. Pakistani singular religion state has made them more intolerant of other religions, unlike Indian muslims. 3. Western forces may not want peace between two else the region will flourish. That's why Taliban , ISIS Al-Qaida etc flourish on the backhand support of west. 4. Economic differences now may make reunion more difficult. What can start however, is breaking down barriers between two by controlled free trade, controlled short term and longer term migration of work force, mutual help to develop both countries, and ease of visas, or visa free entries.

i suppose you are right. we all should be allowed the right to call ourselves indians. the indian government has taken considerable measures in irradicating this issue. i am a malaysian. a tamilian by race. in malaysia, there are no caste issues among the majority of ethnic indians here but just a handful in percentage who still refer to castes. in india on the other hand, eventhough the government has abolished the caste system in their administrative policies, the implications have not been fully enforced or embraced with open arms by the majority sub-urban population. there seem to be less problems in urban areas(in urban areas, it is only two castes- with money and without money. sorry to say this, but i have seen this glaring at me on my many visits to my motherland.). as long as proper education and irradication of identity by profession to begin with is not abolished there will be no way we would be able to see india without a caste system. it is still a very sensitive issue eventhough there has been many elaborate policies in irradicating them. proper social education and a new social pyramid would break the caste system eventually, but how long would it take. the caste system has been practised for over 2000 years in this country and the hatred for the lower and passion for their own has been passed on and on for over a good twenty generations the least. probably it would take another 2-3 hundred years with intense enforcement of anti-caste law till the nation completely or at least by a good 90% of the majority population live as plain Indian Citizens.
we cant 'just remove' the cast system my brother. it is social evolution that took place over thousands of years. something really big needs to happen to reverse the process or at least mutate it to reverse the effects.

Frankly its not possible India is going backwards, so im sorry it is not possible, but may be there might be change in common indian mentality due to growth and survival problems. So its very important everyone has something to work on. rather than people just wasting time with politicians discussing cricket games so on and on.....
They must be occupied with futuristic thoughts for the nation

Among the rich professionals, it is already happening. But since the middle class is so large, I doubt if the caste system will ever be eradicated. Money is the greatest equaliser like death.

Yes, In future we could see India without any caste discriminations. But then we would have economic discrimination, where rich people will discriminate poor people.
