Congrats! Couldn't of happened on a more special day. First, take care of yourself. Also, pick up some prenatal vitamins, take one a day. Don't lift anything heavier than 25 lbs. At the first appointment the dr. will do a sonogram (you should be able to hear the heart beat). He might do an ultrasound as well...you should see a little sac of joy in there. Ask for a list of medications you can take during your pregnancy (in case you have allergies, get a cold etc..) He should get you an information pack of sorts that may include hospital information as well. He will want to know a family history. You will have to pee in a cup every visit from here on out...this is just a pregnancy test each time. Take care of yourself and best wishes! You will never feel this kind of love for anything like you will this child! Congrats!

yep thats all you can do right now is make a app. with your first app. they wont do much but keep in mind everywhere is diff. anyways but they will test you 1st either thought pee or your blood there ask you when was your last period. If you come up preggo. they wont do much if you're earlier into your pregnancy, but there guess your due date and you'll shedule your next app. Like i said if your a month or so your next couple of vists will be in and out but this may help you a little.
you get your first ultra sound when you'll about 2 to 3 mos or should i say 8 - 14wks cause thats how they keep up with your preg with wks
There do a little blood tests which they do between 12-18wks i think 18 is the lastest they can do certain test
those are the major things that you will go though 1st but most visit there just checking the baby heart beat and your wt good luck and if you are preggo the congrads

Congratulations!!!! I wanted to be pregnant for Christmas this year, and I am 24 weeks with twins!!! How exciting to find out on Christmas day. You can start taking prenatal vitamins, rest, drink plenty of water, and take it easy. At your first appointment they will get your history, weight, blood pressure, you may have a pap smear, and blood work done. You may also have an ultrasound. If you have an u/s it will probably be done vaginally (it does not hurt). Congrats!!!!

I agree with MOmmy to Be, my first appt. was the same way. Also, when you call an OB ask for them to call in a prescription of prenatal vitamins, they should just volunteer that but some offices don't, because you need to get started on them right away. Otherwise sit back, relax, and enjoy the fact that you are pregnant. Congrats.

like everyone else said above, start on vitamins, and maybe pick up a book or two. the two books i've been reading throughout my pregnancy are what to expect when you are expecting, which is really helpful with certain side effects and things that could happen, and signs...and The Pregnancy journal, which gives you something to read every day. my fiance and i read the newest entry every night before bed :)
Also, for magazines, i subscribed to FitPregnancy, and Parenting...just a few more ideas for you :)
congrats and good luck!!

Start taking some over the counter prenatal vitamins, it's never too early to start, especially because some doctors wait until you're 8 or 12 weeks to see you. Get them at CVS or WalMart, until the doctor prescribes you some. Good luck & Congrats.

CONGRATS!!!!!!!!
They won't have you come in until about 8 weeks along. My first appointment consisted of first seeing a nurse and giving her mine and my husbands medical histories, as well as our parents. Then I saw the OBGYN and had a pap, gave a urine sample and had a blood test. That was just about it.
Oh yeah.. drink OJ and take prenatal vitamins...but apparently try to space them out by about a half hour. (by advice of my OBGYN).

Congrats!
You need to start taking prenatal vitamins know and be sure they contain folic acid. The earlier you start taking your vitamins you will notice that you body will take to the pregnancy with ease. Also try to drink OJ everyday because it conatins two servings of fruit. Eat healthy and take care of yourself.
The first visit they usually take your, weight, blood pressure, urine, blood. Talk with you about the disease's they run in your family. They see how you are coping with being pregnant. And I got a vaginal ultrasound. But that's about it. Good Luck!

Congrats, relax. I've done this before. Much less complicated than it seems. your Dr. will prescribe you a vitamin. Other than that I would suggest eating properly and exercise. You can actually do the same things you are used to doing unless you have some kind of complication heaven forbid. (I wouldn't suggest bungy cord jumping). Just make sure you don't drink, smoke, or do unprescribed drugs and you will do great.

Now you just sit and wait, and try to believe it's true!
At the first appt they'll do an ultra sound and you'll get to see baby for the first time. They make you pee as soon as you walk in at each visit. They dont do too much, but its still fun! I cant wait to get my BFP :( Congrats!
