the drive belt is broken. the clutch that engages the compressor might have failed. The shaft in the compressor could have broken as a result of being turned on when the engine is running at high speed. You maight have had a stone puncture the condensew int he front of the car. The refrigerant has leaked out as a result of a cracked or broken tube or hose in the system. A control wire has been
accidently disconnected.

Have a mechanic check the system for leaks, usually the condenser in front of the radiator gets hit by road debris and leaks. When they recharge the system they should also put tracer dye in with the freon or 134a so if the leak is too small to catch there will be trail to lead them to the leak when you return with no a/c again.

1st: there might be a leakage of refrigerant from you AC pipes, evaporator etc.
2nd: Compressor not working, (Check Switch) fan may works but without cooling due to compressor failure.
3rd: Check the AC fan belt if its working or damaged. Cooling cannot attain if the refrigerant cannot condense from the condenser.
