Porsche for me, always Porsche......

You will probably need to qualify this question to get a real answer.

Are you asking which I prefer? I've owned both, and greatly like both marques. I would lean towards Porsche as I've found them more reliable and my lap times have always been better... but BMWs remain some of my all time favorite cars.

Are you asking which company is better? Depending on how you judge it, either one. Porsche has managed to improve it's position in recent years and has become very profitable. BMW though is the largest privately owned automaker in the world.

Are you asking which you should get? An answer that would depend on just what you wanted in a vehcile (and given the long history and many models on both sides, an impossible question given the complete lack of detail in your question).

Or are you asking which has had more racing success? Porsche. Which used to be an airplane company? BMW. Which used to produce a tractor? Porsche. Which comes first alphabetically? BMW.

In short, the answer to your question "BMW or Porsche?" is, "BMW or Porsche," depending on just what you are asking.

BMW. I've seen a 1940 BMW still work. Let's see a Porsche pull that off. And the free maintenance plan on new BMW's is tough to beat.

BMW's have alot of oil leak and electrical problems (I've worked with them for years.) When they're running, they're a great car to drive.
Porsche has a better reputation for less mechanical problems. The only problems that Porsche has had for years is with their convertibles. They have never been able to stop them from leaking when it's raining. So they recommend that you don't drive them in the rain.....

I prefer BMW because it is more classy, less flashy.
