Please give as many details as you can, for instance in the past I have used notepad to write html, css, php and have included small amounts of javascript on my page. I used photoshop to create the graphics and made all the menus manually.

I'd like to see what different people have come up and what they used along the way to get there.

Thanks!!!

Hey there!

When I started, I used Paint Shop Pro (before it was bought by Corel) to lay out my websites and build the graphics. You can find it here:

After a while, I moved to Adobe Photoshop, which I'm sure you've heard of. Photoshop is by far the best graphic editing tool made for windows, most mac fans will agree as well. Great program for sure!

A lot of people say Adobe Fireworks is the better "website creator" when it comes to graphics, but I'll let you be the judge on that. I personally haven't used it much.

Once you have the graphics / layout done on your website, you move on to the coding. A lot of people say its easy to use Microsoft Frontpage to start off, but you have to have "MS Extensions" installed on the web server your site will be hosted on..and you really don't learn any actual HTML coding this way. It would be best if you just jumped right in. The program is called Dreamweaver and was created by a phenomenal company called Micromedia (later bought out by Adobe, makers of Photoshop/Fireworks.) Definitely worth checking out!

As you'll see, most of these products are expensive, but professional. I live by them all as they are just fantastic. I wish you the best in your future endeavors!

Reviews and descriptions of the product/company is the first thing I look for. I want to know about the product, so where is the information? Make as much info available as possible. Do you have easy links to follow and clear ways of us being able to order it? So I like the info of the product. How do I get it? The easier to get it, the better. Do you allow users to review your product/company? Not necessary, but I like it because it tells me what people think of the product/company. Are your pages attractive and colorful? If not, what will hold my attention? Product alone isn't always good enough. A splash of color really attracts people. Finally, is it user compatible? If it takes a super genius nerd to solve though it, I wouldn't go on the site. Just remember to keep it simple so that EVERYONE can use it. If you answer all of these questions, I call that a good web page. Good luck!

KompoZer. It's open source (thus free), and gives a WYSIWYG view as well as HTML view. It creates clean HTML/CSS and those who wish can do all their coding via source. I'm no purist and prefer a lazier option :)
