My mum uses silk paint istead of matt as the silk paint is shiny and water just runs off the wall. (We are getting tiled this is just temporary)

Hope this helped!

well, there are marine paints available in the market.. Most of the poaints used on rooftops are supposed to be waterproof.. I just do not know if it is a good replacement for tiles in the shower... there is nothing wrong if you try it... but be careful, you might be spending more, in the long run...

There is a new paint at Sherwin Williams called Duralast- it is guarantied for life, comes in differant finishes, many bases and interior or exterior. There is no need to prime-- jusy clean the walls down with TSP(trisodium phosphate), rinse well-dry and paint.
You'll love it!!!!!

If you are okay with it looking cheap, yes, there are. You can check with your local hardware store. They should have a paint specifically for this purpose.

And to the person who said to use wallpaper: you have got to be kidding! Wallpaper? In a shower?! I have my doubts that would last long. And the mold! Oh, god, the mold!

I've seen it in use but it's false ecconomy, it doesn't look good, wait and when you have saved up have it re-tiled.
