Well, I have been having pain on the left side of my big toe, whenever pressure is put on it. I have had this for about a week or so now, and the left side of my toe appears to be a little swollen and turning a bit purple. Is my toe infected? Or is this just some sort of bruise that will go away with time?

Oh yeah, and this is the toe on my left foot.

Sounds like you might have an infected cuticle. Try soaking your foot in mwdium warm to hot water with ebsom salt. Just follow the directions on the package. Do this a couple times a day for 3 or 4 days for about 1/2 hour. If it doesn't get better, call the doctor and have him/her take a look at it.

are you wearing a shoe that don't fit right? If it is red, i would think it is infected, did you take your temperature? It might be a bruise, but soak your feet in a hot water and soap and a little hydrogen peroxide, and see if that helps..if you are running a fever, go to the doctors but in the meantime, get some neosporin or something, and put it on the area and keep it clean Happy new year!

Sounds like you may have an ingrown toe nail, unless you dropped something on it.

It's probably an ingrown toenail, you need to take care of it before it needs surgery.
