Quite possibly.
Wearing the crucifix, represents the suffering that was endured for our sins.We want to recognise this and remind each other to live righteous lives.

Good question...however, the purpose for the cross was as in many cultures a pagan symbol. Just like God though Moses showed the Egyptians just how powerless their pagan gods were by the plagues...so God showed Satan how powerless he is by ridding the world of false child sacrificing pagan rituals by establishing His noble laws on the hearts of men through blood atonement as He was a living sacrifice on that same cross. Christians shouldn't have symbols and that is a good point..but we all cling to them in hope because we want to fix our eyes, which are physical on something tangible so the cross has been used for that purpose ever since. Better for that than what it was once used for. The cross was used for a means of killing and of torture because if you survived too long upon it...you got your legs broken to speed the process of crushing your solor plexus by your own weight. The gruesome torture of driven nails wasn't the worst of it. Love in Christ, ~J~

The thing about a cross is that it makes for a good symbol. Mini guillotines, iron maidens and electric chairs are difficult to render into jewellery. In fact, many people think that Jesus was actually nailed to a tree.

It all depends. If my Savior was killed by a guillotine and He rose from the dead 3 days later and appeared to many reliable witnesses before ascending back up to Heaven and if He told them that they too must be willing to lay down their lives for others as a demonstration of God's love for fallen mankind, then I might wear a "mini-guillotine" if it helped me to remember each day that I wasn't here to live only for myself but to show God's sacrificial love in how I behaved towards others whether they be lost or saved and it was a symbol to others that I had put my trust in the risen Savior.
1 Corinthians 15:3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. 6 Thereafter He appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, of whom the majority remain until now, but some have died. 7 Thereafter He appeared to James, then to all the apostles.
John 15:12 "This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this, that someone lays down his life for his friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command you.
Luke 9:23 And he said to all, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. 24 For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it. 25 For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses or forfeits himself? 26 For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words, of him will the Son of Man be ashamed when he comes in his glory and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.

The cross was meant to be a means of slow, painful death. They used it alot back then. Not sure why they chose that particular symbol instead of a more uplifting one. But no I wouldn't wear any of them.

Well I wonder why it matters to you? If I believe I look best in blue, and I wear blue a lot as a result, but you believe that there is no blue, are you going to challenge me on my color selection every day? What is it with atheists that so many feel led to challenge people of faith? I thought that being an atheist just meant that you didn't believe in a god. Apparently I'm mistaken. More and more it seems to indicate that you believe in the god of disrespect and intolerance, making yourself an obnoxious presence in the world. If you don't believe in god, fine, that's your choice. Just leave the rest of us alone thanks. We might even pray for you.
