I lived there for almost 5 years. Unless you've got money, big money, LA is a cesspool. The cost of living is outrageous. The traffic is miserable. Crime is high and the police are engaged in outright warfare with street gangs.

There are parts of California that are absolutely stunning. The central coast from Santa Barbra up to Monterey for example. Yosemite National Park. Lake Tahoe. The redwood forests north of San Francisco.

Take my word for it. LA isn't on the list.

Don't waste your time and money to see LA. Doesn't matter what country, it is always shown on TV as beautiful to visit. Right now in California, there only a few places left that depending on what you want to see is worth it. I was born in California and loved everywhere I could go, but now we have reach a point that immigration has taken a toll on alot of areas. At one time immigration was great for everyone because we all grow with each other, now it looks like we have to support alot of these people who don't want to give up the culture or customs and we have to conform to their wants because of the rights groups backing them.
Have a good day mate

Its not all what its cracked up to be, its pretty in some areas but for the most part the pollution and crime make it a pretty crappy place, if you want to visit CA I would recomend San Diego, way prettier and a little more laid back. And if you do make it there be sure to visit La Jolla beach (prenouced La Hoya) Beautiful spot, and all kinds of ocean life to be seen. Some people even call it seal beach because you can sit and watch the seal pups play and ride the waves in.

It's not really pretty at all. The beaches are nice and that's about it, unless you like city's. Northern California is much prettier as is San Francisco as far as cities go. The Sierra Nevada Mountains are breathtaking. San Diego is a beautiful city too. LA just has to many people and is way to congested.

Yak Rider is correct. It is the most expensive place that I have ever visited in my life.

I would avoid California and AZ at all costs.

It is an illegal immigrant area now. Crime is high, Cost of living in a some what safe area is outrageous and the smog is awful.

TV is not always showing the truth.

The areas that you see on television are only a very small part of Los Angeles. There are more bad areas than there are good. You should come to San Diego. It's much nicer, the people are friendlier, it's not as congested and there is more to do!

It still has it's great points. But on the downside: the smog and pollution are horrible, the traffic is atrocious, and the gang activity and crime are rampant. It used to be a lot nicer place than it is now.

It was...20 years ago. Now it is infested with illegals, gangs, criminals, pan handlers and movie stars. Save your money and go somewhere else.
