The million dollar question...you must be speaking of the temple shot that was either made at point plank, or by precision fire from long range. That is just part of the mystique and lore surrounding Delta's operations due to their skills. This happens every time the public becomes aware of one of their jobs, but not fully informed. It will happen again.

Most likely he died exactly the way his underbosses did, a Colombian search bloc party members bullet to the head at very close range. The search bloc members made up a large part of "los pepes" (people persecuted by Pablo Escobar), not only was this group notorious for assassinations on its own free will. It was common practice for this group to plug anyone associated with Escobar in the head regardless of surrender.

Delta had no reason to assume such a liability unless the situation got out of hand and Pablo was about to escape. There were plenty of Colombians taught by us who wanted to pull the trigger badly on seen. The Colombians knew what keeping Pablo alive and jailing him meant (his own luxury palace/fortress/zoo called jail).

The Colombian police is the most likely answer.

Escobar was engaged in a running gun battle with the Colombian police at the time of his death. The police had the house surrounded, policemen where shooting at him from the street, police where shooting at him while chasing him out of a window.

If Delta was even there I doubt they would have attempted a shot given the conditions.

The CIA convinces other people to do their dirty work, they dont do it themselves.

It was the Colombian National Police who killed him.

No. He just ended up in a gun battle with no place to run or hide and got his ticket punched. The US may have helped with intell but they didn't pull the trigger. The authorities probably figured that his organization had been weakened enough that they could afford to turn out his lights without too many repercussions.

None of the above.

Oh, Pablo Escobar - doesn't matter who did the job, just that the job was done right.

The Colombians that where trained by US special forces. It was not a sniper shot, it was multiple pistol shots.
