She is sleeping more than usual also, and when she sleeps I can hear her breathing like when someone has a bad cold and can't breath. Occassionally she makes a scary gasping/snorting sound, like she can't breath. She is only 3 yrs old. She has never done this before. I am not that knowledgeable about vet medicine. Can dogs get colds/allergies? Is that what this is? What can I do? Any advice is definitely welcome!! Thank you!!

Dogs can get colds and have allergies. Could be a upper respiratory infection. Also, issues with the heart can cause labored breathing. Get him to the Vet just in case it's something serious.

I once suffered from Chronic Bronchitis. I would suffer sometimes 3 to 4 times per year! Usually when there was a major change in the pressure outside (I live in the north, and the temperature spikes and dips do wonders to chronic sufferers of bronchitis!). Each time I would get horrible hacking coughs, hoarking up green phlegm..it was so frustrating!

The key to getting rid of your bronchitis is to find a way to completely eliminate the germs that are causing all the phlegm and irritation leading to your hoarking cough and heavy breathing. Keep reading to learn how to do kill these germs!!

Could be trachael collapse..that's a worst case senario.Or has she gained weight?Could be that.Get her checked out soon for your peace of mind. The gasping snorting sound sounds like a "reverse sneeze"...nothing bad....yes,dogs can get allergies, but difficult to diagnose.
