Also, where are they? Of course there are dozens of conflicts raging around the globe, but almost all of them seem to be of the guerrilla variety of warfare, or some other irregular type. I'd put both Afghanistan and Iraq into the "irregular" category myself. The only one I can think of that could be classified as conventional is the ongoing civil war in Sri Lanka. Can you think of others? Thanks!

The Tamil may use guerilla tactics, but so did the Japanese in WWII and nobody would claim that was a guerilla war. The Tamil have a navy and an air force, modest though they may be, and in my mind that turns it into a conventional war.

I forgot about Ethiopia/Eritrea. That's definitely conventional when it's on. Interesting suggestion about the Koreas, although I think they've been in a "ceasefire" for too long to enter into the discussion.

Oh India and Pakistan are a good answer too! Also China and India sometimes skirmish around their disputed border zones.
