I posted a satirical question a few minutes ago asking how I can be more biblically feminine and one of the answerers told me to read Provers 31. To be honest, I never read it before till now and I was amazed at the beauty and wisdom beneath those words.
I just can't help but see the irony. My wickedness was answered with wisdom which left me in awe.
(No, I still don't believe in God or the Bible, but I've learned something new about myself)
Has anything similiar ever happened to you?

Uhmmm, I'm not having a religious experience, I'm just having a moment of increasing my self-awareness.

Actually, yes I have. I have been "put in my place" a couple of times on here and I love when I have those "wow" moments. I will never be religious, per se, but I accept the fact that there is much to be learned about myself by unexpected sources.

There is a reason why those ancient texts stay popular. As you have found out, there is intelligence, humor and some darn good writing in the holy books we have in the world today. My revelation came when I saw how similar the South American Popul Vuh was to the Bible, and how the creation stories of the people from African tribes parallell Genesis.
We are much more alike than different. These books are not bunk as written, but when they are interpreted in negative ways; this is when they get their bad rap.
Also try reading the Upanishads or other Asian texts. Your awe will increase. These books are famous and everlasting for a reason: they have some literary and emotional merit.

From what i've got study of the solutions you have gained so a procedures you have a stressful interest forward attempting to %. an excellent answer. i do no longer envy you your activity. yet that's what happens whilst there's a stable question. Soooo, now for my 2 cents. i've got confidence Alex Shelly is getting a stable sufficient push in TNA and deservedly so.he would be IC/X branch Champ at some point. hence i've got confidence the huge push ought to flow to Paul London. he's quickly, energetic, atheletic & proficient. He has the potental to to fill the the spot which would be left by employing Rey Mysterio whilst he retires. who's the greater advantageous wrestler---- All those issues I pronounced approximately London nicely actual now Alex is a little greater advantageous at. NOW my challenge to you is to %. an excellent answer!

I am a staunch Atheist...however I still find comfort in a few of the hymns I sung as a child, has nothing at all to do with believing.
How can someone not be comforted by humming or singing 'Amazing Grace' for example quietly to themselves.

I've been God-smacked a few times with stuff outta the Bible...feels more like a love tap than a stinging blow but still, the effect can be intimidating yet I always welcome it. I believe the Word of God can be very humbling and awe inspiriing and thats one of the reasons why people don't read it. Not very many people respect the virtue of wisdom or seek it anymore these days its seems. Folly, ignorance and anything for a laugh seems the order of the day. Yet the book of Proverbs says...its better for a man to meet a bear sow robbed of her cubs than for a man to meet with his folly. You should read the whole book of Proverbs...and the book of Job. Love in Christ, ~J~

If you were to read the rest of Proverbs, and then read Ecclesiastes (both of which were written by Solomon), you would soon soon discover that out of all his wives, and all his concubines, supposedly the finest women in all the world, Solomon NEVER FOUND such a woman. So dont take it too hard on yourself, Solomon was only dreaming...

Yes, I do believe in the Lord and the Bible but, it all came into perspective for me the day I read in one of Paul's letter's to the Church in Corinth about Love. That made it all make sense to me. Everything seemed to just fall into place after that.

for many years i was troubled by proverbs 31:10. it seemed so dramatically untrue. almost all the girls i knew were living proof that good women are easily found, and that one never needs to pay them.
then i realised: it is only women who read the bible who are intended by that text.

Just because the Bible is not true does not mean that there is no wisdom in it.
